【摘要】:Thedataobtainedbythistestmethodareusefulforestablishingpressure,orhoopstresswhereapplicable,versusfailure-timerelationships,underindependentlycontrolledinternalandexternalenvironmentsthatsimulateactualanticipatedproductend-useconditions,fromwhichthedesignbasis(DB)forpipingproductsormaterials,orboth,canbedetermined.(RefertoTestMethodD2837andPracticeD2992,andAppendixX1ofthistestmethod.)Note38212;Referencetodesignbasis(DB)inthistestmethodreferstothehydrostaticdesignbasis(HDB)formaterialinstraighthollowcylindricalshapeswherehoopstresscanbeeasilycalculated,orisbasedonappliedpressuredesignbasis(PDB)forcomplex-shapedproductsorsystemswherecomplexstressfieldsseriouslyprohibittheuseofhoopstress.Inordertocharacterizeplasticsaspipingproducts,itisnecessarytoestablishthestress-to-rupture-time,orpressure-to-rupture-timerelationshipsovertwoormorelogarithmicdecadesoftime(hours)withincontrolledenvironmentalparameters.Becauseofthenatureofthetestandspecimensemployed,nosinglelinecanadequatelyrepresentthedata.Therefore,theconfidencelimitsshouldbeestablished.Resultsobtainedatonesetofenvironmentalconditionsshouldnotbeusedforotherconditions,exceptthathighertemperaturedatacanbeusedforadesignbasisassignmentforlowerapplicationtemperatures,providedthatitcanbedemonstratedthattheapplicationconditionspresentalessstringentenvironment.Thedesignbasisshouldbedeterminedforeachspecificplasticmaterialandeachdifferentsetofenvironmentalconstraints.Designandprocessingcansignificantlyaffectthelong-termperformanceofpipingproducts,andthereforeshouldbetakenintoconsiderationduringanyevaluation(seeAppendixX2).Specimensusedmustberepresentativeofthepipingproductormaterialunderevaluation(seeAppendixX2).1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthetime-to-failureofplasticpipingproductsunderconstantinternalpressureandflow.1.2Thistestmethodprovidesamethodofcharacterizingplasticsintheformofpipe,components,andsystemsunderanyreasonablecombinationofinternalandexternaltemperaturesandenvironments,undertheproceduresdescribed.1.3Thistestmethodcanbeusedtocharacterizethetestedplasticmaterialsorproducts,orboth,onthebasisofpressure-,orstress-rupturedatadevelopedundertheconditionsprescribed.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
