【摘要】:Liquidpenetrantexaminationmethodsindicatethepresence,locationand,toalimitedextent,thenatureandmagnitudeofthedetecteddiscontinuities.Eachofthevariousmethodshasbeendesignedforspecificusessuchascriticalserviceitems,volumeofparts,portabilityorlocalizedareasofexamination.Themethodselectedwilldependaccordinglyontheservicerequirements.1.1Thistestmethodcoversproceduresforpenetrantexaminationofmaterials.Theyarenondestructivetestingmethodsfordetectingdiscontinuitiesthatareopentothesurfacesuchascracks,seams,laps,coldshuts,laminations,throughleaks,orlackoffusionandareapplicabletoin-process,final,andmaintenanceexamination.Theycanbeeffectivelyusedintheexaminationofnonporous,metallicmaterials,bothferrousandnonferrous,andofnonmetallicmaterialssuchasglazedorfullydensifiedceramics,certainnonporousplastics,andglass.1.2Thistestmethodalsoprovidesareference:1.2.1Bywhichaliquidpenetrantexaminationprocessrecommendedorrequiredbyindividualorganizationscanbereviewedtoascertainitsapplicabilityandcompleteness.1.2.2Foruseinthepreparationofprocessspecificationsdealingwiththeliquidpenetrantexaminationofmaterialsandparts.Agreementbytheuserandthesupplierregardingspecifictechniquesisstronglyrecommended.1.2.3Foruseintheorganizationofthefacilitiesandpersonnelconcernedwiththeliquidpenetrantexamination.1.3Thistestmethoddoesnotindicateorsuggestcriteriaforevaluationoftheindicationsobtained.Itshouldbepointedout,however,thatafterindicationshavebeenproduced,theymustbeinterpretedorclassifiedandthenevaluated.Forthispurposetheremustbeaseparatecodeorspecificationoraspecificagreementtodefinethetype,size,location,anddirectionofindicationsconsideredacceptable,andthoseconsideredunacceptable.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.SIunitsareprovidedforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
